I sit here now, as we near the beginning of a new school year and look back at this blog. It has been many months since I have posted and I pondered why. The answer came after a few minutes.
We weren't doing 'nothing' this whole year. In fact we were busy and it turns out that just like breathing, we were leading and teaching leadership without realizing just how much of it can be written about. Have you ever wondered what you would blog about? Most people think there is nothing of note in thier lives, and yet, the most popular blogs are about the simplicity of life, everyday.
The leadership program is just like that! We are so immersed, so used to, so natural to leading now that we fail at times to identify what may be of interest to others, and in that, we fail to even identify the basics as well.
This realization was nearly mind numbing for me... momentarily. Now, I suddenly see so many things you need to know, about the program, about leadership, about mentoring, about leading in everyday life.
A wise person once said the deepest lessons of life are caught, not taught. Just like with our children, we teach in our actions and words while we are least aware that we are a living lesson for others.
How are you leading today without knowing it? When you least think you are leading, you may amaze yourself with the answers.
